Stupid, stupid question

I have never in my life bought aftermarket wheels. What constitutes having to change your tire size. In other words I have oem size tires on. I must have 18x8 wheels, but I am thinking the offset does not affect the tire size? Or the other way around? I am trying to find a offset as close to the stock 50 as i can but finding it difficult.

offset has little to do with tire size...

you only need to go to wider tires if you get a wider wheels, or 19" tires for a 19" wheel etc. offset only comes into play with very wide setups that risk rubbing on the inside of outside

Not sure if this helps: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.jsp

They say:
"If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected."

I cannot find a 50 offset wheel anywhere. Must be alot of people on here running different offsets on their custom rims.

you want to get as close as possible...at some point, you will rub on the fender if you do not go with a lower offset. unfortunately not many RWD imports like ours have such high offset, so the choices are slim. there's a good selection of 40-48 offset rims, and that should work ok.

just do some looking around here and see what offsets others are running

Waiting on a reply from the company on the specs of these. Damn, I hope they are close. I personally like one of these for my green 8.
