Stop Tech brake pads

has anyone used these on their 8, specially on the track?

I've used them on my MR2 but curious if they are any good for the 8 (they worked very well on the 2)

Sold under Centric on rock auto and are darn cheap.

I've used OEM pads on the track once before. they worked wonders but I chewed through them in one day. they are sorta expensive also.

The Stoptech Performance pads are a good street pad, similar to Hawk HPS. They are acceptable for light track use if you're fairly light on the brakes or not doing sessions longer than 20 minutes. All of these "performance street pads" will begin to fade fast when getting outside of their temperature range, which is not aimed for the potential high heat they can see on track.

If you find yourself doing many track days per year, and don't mind swapping pads out yourself, try a dedicated track pad like the Carbotech XP8 or XP10. You'll have much more consistent and stronger braking, and they will last a long time if you are just swapping them in before and after events.

swapping pads isn't a big deal, i was just looking for something decent that wasn't super expensive since I normally use a different car at the track but I will be using the 8 in october.

what about pads liek the ET300s or 500s?

ET500s are good on the street and Autox, just don't do a track day with them as people have reported excessive wear.

I guess it depends on how much aggressive you plan to be on the brakes then. I would say a novice driver should do fine on a single day with the Stoptech pads. Someone on grippy tires and used to bleeding off speed very quickly will probably see some fade or excessive wear on them or OEM pads.

the last track day Idid with the 8 I burned through OEM pads in 5 or 6 20 min sessions I did but the pads didn't seem to fail me other wise. Looking for something that would hopefully not die in a single day.

if the stop techs work as well as the OEM pads or better I may just go with them. damn cheap, they really only need to last me a day and not just give up on me.

I'll be at VIR if that helps at all but at the same time they need to last me 30 to 45 minute sessions without giving up on me.

I would not use the stoptechs on the track. I've discussed this with CRH and we decided they were not a good fit. IIRC the operating temp ranges didn't really make sense for the track and there are a lot of people out there posting poor track performance (pad life, fade, feel etc) I dont have personal experience running them but a friend had them on his NSX and he hated pretty much everything about them.

Stick with something made for the track. I've spent too much money burning through pads that were not "track" pads. Stick with Hawk, Cobalt Friction, Carbotech (not with racing brake rotors though FYI)... there are a few others im forgetting. Just dont waste your time and money on a street pad on the track.

ET300/500's are a fine street pad but a horrible track pad. You will burn through them in a day. After burning through a set of the ET900's in two days i asked Racing Brake about their pads and they even said their 900 series pad isn't really up to the test for anything but an occasional spirited drive.

Just save money and get the expensive pads... trust me, that makes sense.

I will most likely only use them once is the thing. I would normally not be using this car for track events I just happen to be this time since I can't really fit everything I need + the wife in an MR2

I can't justify 300++ bucks on pads for 1 use.
