I have an 05 shinka and it's the black cherry color... and it doesn't do it for me (appearance wise) i love the car and the way it looks but it needs that extra umph ... I am debating on changing the color on my stock rims to either a matte yellow or white... I know black would look real nice but imo black is overplayed and most people have it , please feel free to give me and suggestions, i also have full limo tints all around. Thanks guys!

I recommend that you trade Shinka wheels with someone who has standard stock wheels though, the Shinka wheels are different and much more rare.

 

i apologize in advance for my stubbornness but is there a difference in appearance as far as the rims go vs standard stock? And btw i would be using plastidip (ONLY ON THE RIMS THOUGH!), so i could always remove it if i didn't like it.. or still not a good idea?! ( i have experience w/ it)

 

Yes, they have a different color/coating on them, a 'dark chrome' I believe is the term.

 

My advice would be to keep the shinka wheel color.

Either that or new wheels in whatever color you think would look nice. Perhaps bronze?

 

Matte is getting played out, and tends to look cheap on wheels. IMHO, this is even more true with OEM wheels. I'll bet gloss white would look pretty sweet, and be way easier to keep clean.

Just my suggestion...

 

Gloss is definately easier to keep clean compared to a matte finish, but white wheels are hell to keep white.

 

Matte yellow? Seriously, on a Black Cherry Shinka? Oh and RIWWP, the dark chrome is color of the chrome stock wheels, not the Skinka wheels.

If you get a bright white (not domestic sedan white) without any pearl, and it's a single-stage job, it isn't too bad. I have two sets of white wheels for my 10th Ann. RX-7 and maybe give them yearly attention.

Don't be a rainbow fanatic, and even though black wheels are played out...matte black should do it and my choice. Whatever you decide to choose (its your wheels anyway), update us and post pics when you have it ready.

 

After all of the feedback i'm leaning more towards staying stock shinka wheels, they are one of a kind, might just do calipers instead... and is it just me or does anyone else think chevy completely stole our rim look w/ their camaro...

 

These are mine... I've since had them re-done slightly darker with more pearl... and the car's been slammed now with coilovers so looks alot better. Original colour is sweet though, I just wanted to be different.
