Stock rim fitment question

Stock rim fitment question

I did a search and I see that on the stock rims, most people would say to go with a 245/40. The question I have it why cant we keep it at 245/45? Thanks in advance for any help

Stock is 225/45.

245/40 is almost the same diameter, a little wider, and usually much cheaper & easier to find, it's a Corvette stock size.

245-45's are too tall...they will make the speedo error larger than necessary...the 40 is almost the same as stock....you decide

Thats what I was thinking, the only reason I dont want 40s is because of the bumps and potholes in my area, really bad, I dont want to crack a rim. So maybe I'll try the middle at 235/45?

don't use ghey rims. i've never heard of, say, a titanium forged rim cracking.

The 240's are wider/larger, the '40' number is the percentage of how high it is in relation to it's width, so it is, in fact, only 3mm shorter than the 225/45 stocker.

.....so you get wider, cheaper, and more selection, for about an 1/8th of an inch lower ride.
