Stock 18's, Need New Tires

Looking for some good tires to use with the stock 18's.

How much wider can you go on the stock rims? I'd also prefer a lower profile tire, i'm curious how much that would amplify noise.

I'm pretty cheap now-a-days but i'll take take whatever you guys have to give...

Thanks

245/40/18

i upgraded to 245/40/18. the added width is great, looks a lot meaner than the stock 225s. it's almost a wash though in sidewall height. 245/40's are a tad bit shorter than the stock 225/45, but it looks almost the same from the profile. i'm going to look into 245/35 for my next tire to get the lower profile look, although im sure the ride would be a lot harsher.

What are the negatives associated with going to 245's instead of 225's?

increased rolling resistance. which will lower your top speed by a few miles/hour and will use more gas. less responsive steering feel due to sidewall felx. more likely to hydro plane on standing water, heavier thats all i can think of right now its 4am and i havent slept in days

Better lay off the pipe!

I totaly agree! If the OP wants to go wider the 235/40-18 would be a good choice, but the 245 is the widest for the stock wheel.
