springs re-rolled!! - pics

Ok, i got my springs re-rolled yesterday. Its an unreal job in both ride and height, whilst keeping the original springs in the car.

it cost $250 AUD and about 5 hours. 30mm rear drop and 40mm front.

sorry about the pics, the camera setting was wrong.

Ok, sorry to be dense here, but could you explain what "re-rolled" means? Did they cut them? Compress them past the limits of the spring so that they stay compressed, and shorter? Cut them? Straighten them all the way out and reform them? Please explain this process in more detail. Thanks.

they heat them, re-roll them in the spring machine and heat them again to set. You can only do it once without sacrificing strength.

Thanks. But I, for one, would be leery of having this done. In my experience, a spring once modified is never as good as the original. Still interesting though, and might be good if you're on a budget. :D

ok put it this way, the genuine mazda springs must pass around 6 engineers before they are used in the manafacturing. the springs are quality and i prefer to keep that, there is no use paying the stupid $$ for aftermarket springs that sag after a year (i've been there many times before). Once your old springs are out of the car they NEVER go back in, so whats the diff?
