Something wrong with new tires

brought a set of Toyo Proxes 4 last week.

Im not sure , but the Rear Left Tire, the sidewall I think hmm something "shave" a tiny bit of the sidewall off. Will this affect the "safety" of the tire? I asked the guys they said its fine. Its not covered by warranty anyway cuz its not really a "manufature defect" (I think something shave it off while I was driving, u know how crapy NYC roads are !)

Hmm ......... Should I try to take a pic to better show the part ?

Shaving parts of the rubber off your tire.

Sounds bad.

Here it is. the pic was pretty bad cuz I took it at night. Maybe I should try again during day time today ... but its freaking raining in NYC so its still pretty dark ..

Anyway , here it is.

See the very right of the picture ? some of the words got "shaved" off . I dont know if this is still good to drive ..... 1-2 mm was gone I think.

WIll try to take a better picture with my 7MP Camera Later the day.

Does it show metal? I guess its better for you to ask at a tire shop or something

its very thin layer actually. it's a little bit thicker than the words layer.

the sidewall strength is affected based on the thickness of the sidewall.

However, the sidewall thickness is measured without the raised lettering and stuff. So if its only the letters that got shaved you should be still good. I am not a tire tech - I just read about how they come up with the tire specs. Doesnt hurt to ask an experienced guy as long as they give you a reason for it.

That same exact thing happened with one of my Toyo proxes 4 too! I bought a set for my mx-5. Person I bought it from said the tire is still fine though, that was a little over a year ago.
