Snow tires. Access Port won't help any when you are in a ditch or hit a tree.

And yes, they help. Even the almost-snow-tire Nokian WRG2 are worlds better than any alleged "all-season" (read: all-season minus snow) tires when the white stuff falls. And those aren't quite true snow tires.

It doesn't take much snow or ice to cause an RX-8 with OEM tires to spin out. You can get a set of 17" rims and winter tires for under $1,000. when you factor in the longer the summer tires will last it cost less. I am soon going to mount my winter tires for the 5th time. That works out to $200 a season for me.

If you're going to use the car during the winter, snow tires are a no-brainer. Expo's right; consider them an investment in keeping your summer tires lasting longer.

RX8 OEM tires are summer only tires. you NEED snow tires to drive in the snow safely or even at all. Not an option if you will need to drive in snow.
