I performed a search, but couldn't come up with anything. Please flame me if you have seen a thread like this but I was wondering if everyone could post what wheel sizes and offsets they have for their 8 and whether it's good for competition and/or street use. This could possibly be a sticky, no?

I don't have much knowledge of what would be too big or an incorrect offset so it would be cool to know what I CAN get, as well as others, without having to worry about the wheels we choose are not gonna fit or something.

I'll edit this everytime someone posts one up.

19*9.5 Rear +28 Offest / 245/35R19 (Required Fender Roll)
18*8.5 Front +28 Offset / 225/35R19 (Fine)

Want to go to 275 rear and 245 front.
Good for Forced Induction, unsure about NA.

lots of good info on this page... btw, i would try to stay as close to stock offset for autox or track.. if you are show or bling it does not matter...

I suggest that people who post here should also post tire sizes since that is also very important to proper fitment.

well all i know is i wanna stick with 8 wide. still debating between sticking with 18 or going to 17. I have a wheel picked out with a +48 offset. i'll be doing 225/45/?

OZ Crono HT in Gold. tyre is unknown, probably looking at Kumho Ecsta SPTs to start those wheels off with. I wanna push the limit with these tyres then upgrade to a better street tyre or upgrade to r-compound.

tire size posting alone is not sufficient because it is simply a generic number without manufacturing standards other than what the manufacturer decides to do

for the billionth time, the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 265/35-18 is wider than all the 275 street tires. It will rub in the rear with a 9.5" +38mm offset wheel

I'm running that tire on 18 x 10.5 @ +43mm on all four corners lowered and without fender mods

 

If you plan to stick with 18X8 wheels and stock tires will the offset matter that much? Any problems going with 35?

 

do 18X8.5 30+ front and 18x9.5 40+ rear then!

 

I remember reading somewhere that it's better to keep all the same tires/wheels for all four because of how they designed the 8. Correct me on this if I'm wrong.

 

the only reason guys go with a staggered setup is for looks, not for handling

 

i got almost that,

18x8.5 at +35 on all four
holding 255/40 18 and its almost completely flush with the fender (slight rear rubbage when hittin hard bumps)

fyi im
lowered 1.5inches on tein type flex with neg2 degrees camber front and neg 2.5 rear

 

I didn't know you could run 17" wheels and tires on the RX-8! I don't have any idea how this affects performance, but it sure would lower the cost of new rims and rubber.

 

OFFSET OFFSET OFFSET it's all about OFFSET
if you don't get it right, they wont fit
i'm almost positive, OFFSET for the RX-8 has to be between 40-50.
