RX7Store.net - RX8 brake upgrade Kit - Thoughts?
Howdy,
The mod itch is coming at me and im looking at options, like many here I get my brakes squealing at low speed soft stops... i dont baby this car but I can't do breakneck stops ALL The time to keep the the brakes from squeailng.
I was looking at this:
http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/rx...%20upgrade.htm
for 600 dollars, 4 new rotars, new pads, and upgraded brake lines... my MAIN interest in in stopping the squeak, and my secondary interest is having those cool looking slotted/drilled rotars. (i know slotted/drilled rotars wont make a damn bit of difference but it would be a nice bonus to fixing up my current brake squeal problem)
Thanks for the input guys

drilled roters will make a damn bit of difference, they have less surface area and therefore cannot dissipate as much heat and since they are not solid are much more likely to crack on you. slotted roters have some advantages, but drilled put you at a disadvantage.
if youre looking to upgrade id go with pads and lines only, the rotors shouldnt be causing the squeek. ive heard good things about the ebc green and red stuff pads. as for the lines i havent found what makes one set more expensive than another, if anyone has some input id love to hear it

I just bought rotors from ebay.
Here's the link.
Of course, I live close enough that I was able to pick them up and save on shipping. I haven't had a chance to drive on them yet because the calipers are getting powder coated.
I didn't have any squeaking, but I love the look of the drilled/slotted rotors, especially w/ the powder coated calipers.
As far as I know, brake squeaks are caused by tiny vibrations when you apply the brakes slowly.
I use the anti-squeak paste thing they sell at autopart stores, and have never had a problem on the 8.
I'm on the 2nd set of brake pads now.
