If i need to replace the brake pads, should i just go to brake masters or someplace generic like that. Or will the brake pads they install be less efficient than the OEM brake pads? This may be a stupid question, but i really want to make sure i don't lose the amazing braking power by installing generic brake pads.

 

Stick with OEM pads at Mazda unless you're comfortable changing them yourself (then again you'll never get comfortable until you try...). The stock pads are very good, if a bit squeaky at times.

Buy the OEM pads and replace them yourself. Most likely you just need to replace your front pads. Is that correct?

 

There is a DIY on here to teach you how to change your pads . You'll save a lot money on that . Plus a lot of the guys here use ceramic pads , they help with the squeaking and brake dust that you get from stock pads . I couldn't stand the way my stock would squeak all the time .

I would buy pads and bring them to the installation facility, you never know what quality you are getting from local shops like that.

The OEM's are great but can be a bit pricey ~$120 for the fronts and ~$60 for the rears.

You can get some hawk or racing brake pads for less with similar stopping power from either brand.

I would recommend the Hawk ceramics or Hawk HPS the ceramics dust less than stock as well.

We sell for less and stock the pad so I don't know why you would buy anywhere else, not to mention answering your questions.

 

If you get in an accident and they determine it was brake failure, you can go to jail as you are not a certified brake mechanic.

Best bet is to take the advice above and bring in your own pads.

Get the cermaics from Porterfield or race roots.

 

And how are they going to prove it was you?

 

changing breaks is eassyyy =) ...unless you somehow **** with your break lines =) lols.

 

Usually when I want to change breaks, I go to my manager. I try not to do it too often though, but I just need a break some times.

 

lols, idk i enjoy doing my breaks =)... so long as i have the correct tools! just the back breaks are annoying only because of the rear caliper pistons! they a bitch to push back, lols

 

..it's BRAKES by the way! You don't 'push back' the pistons, you TURN back the pistons. It's oh so much easier...with the right tools of course.
