refinishing gunmetal Axis hiros?

Just got some new(to me) 19' axis hiros and went to get a nail patched on a tire when the tire shop managed to use an air wrench to damage my wheels in the lugnut wells.

The damage goes through the gunmetal coat in a few small spots and on one lug it comes up to the edge where it appears either a top layer or the clearcoat cracked out over onto the rim about a quarter of an inch. The damage is really minimal but I'm worried that it could get worse and obviously pissed off that they damaged the rims after I had them on the car for less than 48 hours!

They've offered to refinish the rim for free and now I'm just nervous about matching/refinish quality. Has anyone had aftermarket wheels refinished which are two toned?(the hiros of course have a chrome lip/hub)

After looking around a bit it appears they may be able to just patch it up without a total refinish? I guess I'm just fretting the details.

I recall anther member having the same problem. He ended up selling the wheels because he wasn't happy with the companies finish work. I think I would probably end up feeling the same way. I think either way, you're going to be unhappy. Just note that things will happen to your rims even if you are careful. I have never curbed my wheels, but rock chips on the freeway take their toll as well.

See what else the company would offer you...free tire/s? Alignment? Just an idea.

I had a company, in my mind, ruin my OEM wheels. Now, I knew I wasn't keeping these wheels, but I figured they reduced the price at which I could sell these to someone else. I explained this to the manager. He asked what wheels I was thinking about getting, and he offered me a significant discount from any price I could get for the new wheels, and offered me some other incentives. We both made out, and no one was upset.

Yeah that's basically all I'm worried about. It's just down to accept the blemishes on one wheel and hope they don't get worse and move on with my life or roll the dice on whomever they decide to use to refinish the wheel...

Then again I saw another member who had his axis hiro's painted to match the car and said the paint was holding up well. <shrug>

My g-games lasted 2 weeks before getting a rock chip

I've had thoughts of getting them powder coated.
