Pirelli P-Zero Rosso - Anybody have these?
Its getting close to time to replace my stock RE40's, and I have been mulling over what tires to replace them with.
I have done alot of research on tire weight, since our stock tires are so freaking heavy. The Pirelli Rosso in our stock 225/45/18 gets good reviews across the board for handling and for comfort, and to top that off, the tire is 5 POUNDS lighter than stock.
I had a hard time believing that, I called Pirelli to check that and its indeed true. 21lbs. Thats crazy. Thats like throwing some volks and Toyo T1-R's on the car at the same time in terms of unsprung weight.
Now these tires are not cheap. All in, I'm looking at about $1,100 for the set, insurance, tax and installation. The tread wear is good, so they should last.
Even given the cost, the unsprung weight savings is enough to push me over the edge.
I know there are tires that may have slightly more grip or can handle the heat issues of serious track use slightly better, but given my already stiff suspension, I figure its a good way to maintain the precision handling and not beat myself up to badly on Houston's roads.
Anyone have an experiences with these Tires or thoughts on Pirelli?

I have The Pzero Nero's(not m&S) and i love them. Quite, great grip on dry and ok on wet. I have yet to find a tire that is truly Good on wet. They are wearing well also, i have about 8k on them.
Pirelli makes very good tires, I'm sure you will love them, especially compaired to stock!

I had a set of those on my 911. Very good tires. Good dry traction, although not quite as good as the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's or Bridgestone Pole Positions. Way better than the Continental Sportcontact2's though. Decent wear though I went through my rears in about 10,000 miles (aggressive driving).
