The Caliper rebuild kit for the front and rear were about 40.00 per set (front/rear), powder was 20. The gun kit was about 200, but the cost of that was split two ways. We use the kit for alot of other things. As for the life of the powdercoat.... I use the most expensive powder. i tried to knock the color off by hitting metal against metal and it wouldnt come off. The manufacture said that the only way to remove the powder coat is to sandblast again. The calipers also clean VERY easy. Pretty much just spray them off.
Where did you get the rebuild kit from?

Check out my garage. I had mine powder coated and they are holding up great. It has been over a year and there isn't really any corrosion on the surface. Also, they stand out more than spray paint.

if you don't think so then it's most likely not powdercoated.
you can't powdercoat a caliper without taking everything apart, i mean pistons, seal, and all the hose well in this case no hose. they then will sand down the caliper and powdercoat it, after it's done, you'll have to rebuild the caliper that means put everything back together, be extra careful with the piston seal. That is a lot of work to do to a single piston rx8 caliper don't you think?

Ok then I guess he did rebuilt the caliper because he did take them apart and then powdercoated them. Check my garage and you can see the pics.
