Info wanted on Brembo Big Brake kit for RX8
Hi
I'm after some info from anyone that may have fitted a Brembo Front GT BBK Big Brake kit to their car.
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...A/1A26__A2.jpg
This is a picture of the kit.
Kit type is BREMBO FRONT GT BBK BIG BRAKE KIT 4pot 328x28 SLOT DISC MAZDA RX8 SE3P RED Kit part no 1A1.6018A or 1A2.6018A, depending on whether your kit has slotted or drilled discs.
Now what I'm trying to find out is what is the part number stamped on the Calipers?
Also what is the part number on the Caliper mounting bracket?
One more question, what is the distance between the Caliper mounting points - hole centre to hole centre?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Regards
Rotaman

Come on guys, there must be someone on this forum that has fitted one of these Brembo kits to their RX8.
It wouldn't take you much time just to take a front wheel off and have a look at the part numbers I'm after and one measurement.
Again any help would be much apprecaited.
Thanks

Thought I would post up a few photos of the set of Brembo calipers that I have fitted to my RX8.
I'm still using the factory disc's and have had to make up the caliper mounting brackets.
I have also had to add a 3mm spacers so the wheels didn't rub on the new Calipers.
To compensate for the fact that these Brembo Calipers are usually used with slightly larger and wider discs, I have added a set of Brake pad spacers as well. The factory disc's are only 24mm wide and the Brembo disc's are 28mm wide, so the Brake pad spacers are 1.6mm on each side of the pads, which should be enough to take up the 4mm difference.
I managed to pick up these calipers second hand, but had never been used, for $300nz, which I thought was a pretty good price.
It will be interesting to see if these make much difference to the braking.
I worked out the the pad area is similar to factory, maybe a little more pad area then factory, so I'm not expecting a huge difference.
Just finished bleeding the whole system today, so will have to go for a drive and test them out.

The brake pads I'm using are the standard ones that come with the Brembo calipers and unfortunately I can't remember the numbers that were stamped on the back of the pad.
And I have glued a spacer plate onto the back of the pad to compensate for these calipers being used on the standard discs. These calipers are designed to be used with 28mm discs and the standard ones are 24mm from memory. So I fitted 1.6mm spacer plates behind each pad.
Brett these are a 4 pot caliper.
Greg unfortunately I don't have a picture of just the mounting bracket, but it was a very simple setup using a piece of 50mm ( 2in ) angle iron, which I think from memory is about 6mm thick. Obviously I have cut and shaped it to fit the factory mounts.
Like most of the things I make for my car, I first make a pattern out of acrylic plastic to make sure its going to work and then make the final mount out of steel. Would have been nice to make the mounts out of alloy, but I didn't have any of the right type so steel was just easier. Even using steel mounts, its a weight saving of about 4kgs each side.

I am looking to get the correct bracket maybe a new brand pads and rotors from Brembo but I will need the correct part number to do so.
What is the part number on the Caliper mounting bracket?
Any help will be much appreciated.
