Picking wheels, are these any good?

I've been looking for a long time for a set of aftermarket wheels that I like more than the stock wheels and I narrowed it down to a couple different wheels I thought were "ok" until today when I saw an 8 with PIAA Super Rozza's today in the Multimedia forum. I really dug them and called a local dealer to get information. Unfortunately they only come in 19'' in the offset for the 8, which I'm not really keen on, and they are very expensive. The dealer mentioned that R1 Racing makes a wheel that is very similar (basically a knockoff) to the PIAA ones for half the price with the proper offset at 18''. I think they look really good and they come in hyperblack which is what I wanted the PIAAs in, but I figured I would ask here if anybody had experience good/bad/indifferent with R1 wheels.

Here is a pic of the wheel I want:

Here is the thread with pics of my car to get an idea of what I'm going for.

The other wheel that is similar that I think is pretty cool is the new Enkei FLC-01, unfortunately it doesn't come in hyperblack, only flat black, flat bronze, or machined silver.

Eww, I just noticed that actually about the Enkei...

As for the 19's I don't know, I just don't really like 19'' tires on the RX8. From what I understand 19's will cut down a bit on torque due to more rotating mass and I think they look crowded on the car. Also I just bought brand new Falken tires which I actually don't mind so if I get the R1s in the same size as the stock rims I can just have them swap the brand new tires over.

the R1's would probably be ok. just not as baller status as the PIAA's. you should also consider lowering your car to make it look better.

I'm not too pressed about status, more concerned about reasonable quality. If the wheels are light and strong and look good then thats alright by me. A drop is in the works soon, but probably only an inch or so with D-specs/Swifts.

lips are overplayed. i pick up the car rags around here and theyre full of corollas with black rims w. lips.

i like the enkeis, but id choose the zr1 or gtc01 or the new ones (forget the name, new for 08, 15 spoke) over those.

too heavy - 27+ lbs for 19's

if you're concerned about performance - best not to consider wheels that are heavier than stock -

The 18s seem to be a more reasonable weight though, especially considering the stock rims aren't exactly light. I ended up deciding I like the R1s look the best and ordered a set. I'll write a review when I get them though.

Try to take some day time pics. It's hard to judge the rims. Gotta show love for the BB's.
