Question offset suggestions/ help

okey dokey, been looking at maybe grabbing some wheels, have no clue as to how to measure backspacing and all that, tried searching, no luck, tried reading through some threads, don't get it

front 19x8.5, 5x114.3, offset +26.
back 19x9.5, 5x114.3, offset +22.

will that work on my 8 and can someone point to how to figure this stuff out?

thank you bunches

haha...some posted some similar numbers.

i guess i will explain one more time. stock wheel size is 18x8 with a +50mm offset. for the front, you have about an inch or so to play with. so by going to a 8.5 wide wheel up front, you are adding .25 inches to to each side of the wheel. so let's say you now have a 18x8.5 with a +50mm offset, the outside edge of the wheel and the fender are now .25 inches closer. then you add a +26mm offset and you get an extra 24mm pushed out towards the fender. so you get about a total of 30mm closer to the fender, which is about 1.25 inches. that would rub against the fender, unless your car isn't lowered that much and you have skinny tires.

the rear would be the same concept, except you have about .5 inches sticking out past the fender.

thank you, that totally makes sense now, I had found some Volks on ebay w/ no reserve and I almost got them for 500 bucks, but the size is all sketchy and the seller has a lot of negative feedback so I'll look elsewhere for my wheels now thanks to your help

I have 19" x 8.5", w 38 mm offset front & 19" x 9.5" w 35 mm offset in rear & they are right at the side of the car. The +26mm & +22 mm in the back would probably make your rims stick out of the fenderwell a bit.

ugh, no thanks! I've decided I'll probably stick with the factory offset in whatever I get, I'm probably going to go 18s with a drop, originally I was thinking 19s and just leaving my suspension alone but now I'd like to enhance it a bit so the 18s probably would suit it better. Thanks for all your help, once again forum members come through, this place spoils me all the time

Tires

Since we are on the subject. I just got in my ADR M-Sport rims in Gloss Black. 18X8.5 in front with 35 mm offset and 18X9.5 in the rear with 35 mm offset. Anyway, I want to know if these size tires would fit without rubbing on a stock spring set-up: 245/40/18-front and 265/35/18-rear? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

PS- What does the 40 and 35 mean in the tire description?

Thanx,
Rich

LoveMy8,
The 40 and 35 refer to the sidewall.
I forget exactly. Something like the % of the tire width that is sidewall.
The lower the #, the smaller the sidewall.
You can google it I'm sure to see exactly.

I have 19x8.5x39 w/235 35 19. (front and back)
They fit with room to spare.
Sounds like your fronts will fit.
Someone with bigger rears can comment on those.

Yeah they will fit. That is pretty much the setup I have in my car, except I have 19" rims. You can even go to a 275 in the back. My car has the RB springs so I have a .5" drop front & back. You can go with a set of Teins which would drop your car about 1" & you would still be cool. The front is really high up & you will have plenty of clearance.
