Normal wear patterns?
So, I'm over 15K on my stock potenzas, and they're starting to get down to the wear bars, so it's time to get some new tires. What should I buy?
But seriously. My real question is this. It seems like the center of the tread is further worn then the edges. It's subtle, maybe a millimeter or 2, but it's noticeable, especially now that the wear bars are almost even with the tread. Is this a normal wear pattern? or are my tires overfilled? Maybe I just need to be cornering harder to help wear down the edges more evenly?
It's just something i noticed and was wondering about. I'm pretty positive nothing is wrong, the car handles great, but i wanted some other opinions.

Definitely sounds like you were driving a bit over inflated. I tend to over inflate on long road trips to increase my gas mileage (ever so slightly) - I also boost tire pressure to 38-40psi for autocross. Normally, I'm around 35psi.
With the pressure at 33psi I noticed more wear towards the insides of the tires.
Replacing at 15k? Sounds like you're been plenty rough on those stockies... I usually get much more milage outta my tires - maybe your warm climate has something to do with that.

yeah. I keep my tires at 32 PSI, and check them once a month in the morning, when they are cold.
I might be able to get a couple thousand more miles out of them, but looking at them I begin to wonder about their wet traction at this point.
The potenzas just suck and don't have very good treadwear, and the warm california climate can't be helping any.
