Nitto 555s suck in the rain...DSC is amazing
Well, it's nasty and rainy in Heidelberg today. I was driving pretty normally as far as takeoffs go, and in the corners, I was pretty slow. The rear tires just kept breaking loose even with the DSC on! Normally I drive with the DSC turned "All the way" off but in rain, I leave it on. Well, for sh*@s and giggles, I drove to an abandoned lot (at my job) and tested the car with the DSC on, and completely off. The system is truly amazing. I set up a mental course and followed it with it on. Yep, some slippage but you could HEAR the brakes clamp down, and the car recovered. With the system off, man I was ALL OVER the place. Lucky the RX-8 has such a great setup and I did recover from all of the skids (oh yeah, it was fun too :D)
Ok, Nitto 555s (not my favorite but they were pretty much free) well, they suck *** in the rain. On dry pavement however they're pretty sticky.
Dumb post, but be warned about the Nittos if you live in a rainy area.
