Question Newbie Wheel Size Question -- 7.5"

I've searched this forum but haven't found the answer I'm looking for. I've only had my RX-8 for two weeks (really enjoying it!), but I'm not a big fan of the stock 18" wheels.

From what I have gathered, the front wheels are 8.5" and the rears 9.5". I have found the following wheels on ebay. The offeset is +45mm...same bolt pattern. I really like the way the look, but they are 7.5". What are the issues with putting 7.5" all the way around.

Thanks in advance for your help.

ok, the stock wheels are not staggered, (ie front 8.5, and rear 9.5) i dont know the exact width, but i believe they are 7.5, as the stock tires are a 225 width, which would be just about perfect for that wheel size.

The stock wheels are 18X8 on all 4. Getting a 7.5" width rim will limit you on tire size, but the 225 size tire that came with your car would fit on this rim just fine.
On your OEM 8" wide rim... you can fit up to 245 comfortably. Anything more than that would be a waste.

BTW, I think those rims would look good on a Ti Grey.

I really appreciate the responses. I have a "velocity" red 8, and I think the black wheels would look pretty pimp. I just didn't want to comprimise on the width. As I said, I haven't had it for very long, wasn't quite sure about the size.

imrtommy,
anything between +34 to +43 should be ok.

accessguru,
Im not sure about those wheels on a red, but go for it. It might come out real good, and you'll definetely be the first one here with that setup. Those rims carry a lot of bling, so I would recommend getting them in 19". I just hope they are sturdy enough and won't crack.

You know if you looked at your tires you could tell the back is not 9.5

Those ADRs are a good deal. They weigh more than a pile of bricks.. but they are gonna be one of the better rims you find for that price.

The lip size will depend on the manufacturer, but yeah.. generally speaking a lower offset creates a bigger lip. The real difference in offset is how far/in you wheel sits. A lower offset definetely will cause your wheel to sit closer to the fender if not beyond it.

Have you tried searching yet? There are plenty of wheels on here that have a deep lip, and still fit.

Lips are the best thing to have on your wheel it gives the car a much better look IMO.

Low budget deep dish rims will destroy your car, but hopefully you'll get lucky and they will crack before any more real damage to the suspension can be done.

If you are going to go with a deep dish (more than 3" lip), make sure its a good brand.

The best part is...I sold my stock wheels on ebay for more than I paid for these. It was like getting paid to swap out the wheels
