need some info

so i need new struts. my are worn out. i am wanting to lower my car. not tracking it or anything. i just want to have a good stance on it. i cant decide on tech s/koni set up or megan racing coilovers. i would like to adj my height sometimes for shows. this is my daily driver. i like the stance Danmn858 has on his just alittle to lower for my taste. i have a couple of speed bumps around town i need to worry about also. is they anything else i need to replace if i go with one of these setups?

i plan on gett XXR 527s or 530s. yes i know another XXR 8 i like the way they look. It my car not yours .

s tech/koni is a good setup but will not put you that low. I was on s techs and tokico HPs and it was decent but I was looking for more. If you are looking for height adjustment then yes go with coilovers. From what other forum members have said, Megans are good for going low and thats about it. If you have the funds for it now you could always jump in the Powertirx group buy. I got mine from the last one and love them. They will be a little more than the megans with the group buy, but they are great coilovers.

Any coilovers under $1200.00 are pretty much crap in terms of performance so any of the cheap ones will be just about the same if you are looking for stance but some go lower than others. A lot of them are the same exact ones just re-branded. For example the Stance and Powertrix are the same, just different colors. The Megans and BC are the same, etc., etc.

It seems like you are more worried about stance than performance so just get some cheap coilovers. You can get decent Tanabe S-0C coilovers for like $750.00, I have installed them and they worked good and were pretty reliable.

Adjusting the height for shows real quick is not really an easy feat. The rears require a light amount of dismantling to adjust ride height.

i love my stance coilovers. i took a 10 hr trip with them from CT to VA (hit NY and NJ traffic) and only got out of the car for gas/bathroom breaks. At the end of the trip i got out of the car with no aches or anything. keep in mind that they were on full soft for the entire trip. since i've been down here i've been slowly tweaking and makin the dampening stiffer.

godesshunter and i did notice that the powertrix coilovers rear coilovers dampening adjusters were longer than the stance ones, but still easy to mess with. with the longer adjusters the panels that cover the coilovers from inside the trunk can be put on and you'd still be able to adjust the dampening. i'm sure u could get longer adjusters for any kit u get, but its always a plus when they're included. Both are great coilovers tho and pretty similar from what i've heard.

I am running Stance and they are good (now anyway) but far from Great. I have a thread on it but a few others and myself have had a few things replaced on the them in less than a year. Their only saving grace is their customer support. They have replaced each an ever part without issue, for free. But, keep in mind that I have the means and experience to easily swap suspension components on an RX-8. If you don't have the experience or a way to do this work then replacing bushings, broken adjuster cables, broken adjusters, torn up dust boots, etc. would be a major pain in the ***.

I also upgraded the springs on my Stance to Swift springs which was the best thing I ever did, they are much better now but that adds another $300 + to the budget. The out the box Stance spring suck *** and were showing rust spots in less than a year (In San Antonio rust is typically a non issue). there were issues with the coilover threads rusting but they have fixed that issue with a new coating on the new versions.

My bud Hoss-05 has a custom Bilstein setup from Fat Cat motorsports and it is just other level ****. Stance, Powertrix, etc. will be okay for most street drivers but if you are looking for a setup that will last a few years then you will want to spend quite a bit more.

ok. so i decided to pass on the coilovers since the 8 already have a "coil over set up" but im going spring/shock combo. any other good combo that will give me a good drop that i can fit XXr 527s 18x9 all around without rubbing. i heard that 9.5 up front will rub. but anyways any other spring/shock combos?

This forum has discussed this in great detail.
You are right and wrong with your logic. So, why not just do a little bit of searching for an easily answered question before you start changing your mind every few minutes because you can't think for yourself?
