Talking Nankang NS2 any good?

Hey all.

I have a set of P-Zeros I am waiting for, but my fronts were BALD!!! from pushing through turns I guess. Anyways, I got a deal on some Nankang Ultra Sport NS-II. A guy was willing to sell me 4 for $50. I took the offer & figured that worst case, I throw them away once my nice tires show up.

Anyways, I got them mounted for free so that I do not have to worry about blowing a tire, or losing the front end in a turn. So, has anyone heard anything of these tires? Are they worth keeping on the car until I need the new ones (as in worth waiting through the summer/winter & mount the Zeros next spring?)? Or are they trash?

I really cannot tell, but I push my car pretty hard on some of the very abandoned back roads at 0300 when I am on my way home, and I do not want to throw the *** end around & into a tree, or worse if these are like riding a motorcycle with armor-all on the tires, & seat.

Thanks for any information you have, as the web seems devoid of anything but BUY THEM HERE trash for these tires.

Actually, I caught this in my email that it had been replied to...

I actually enjoyed them for the cheap ($50 for all 4) price, they were not really a problem for the summer months, but I drive almost constantly on the interstate, with about 2miles of my 20 mile drive being off of the interstate.

I also dropped 2 on the back when I had a flat (hit a pothole at a rather excessive speed) and it was hell in the winter, I was getting a lot of tire spin. It felt almost like I was spinning the tire on the wheel, because with the slightest bit of thottle at anything below 30, they would break lose for a moment.

I not have some pirellis & they are more comfortable to me, for my aggressive driving.

Short version:

Not bad at all for a gap filler in the warmer months, but I would not really want them for the cold months, if you drive hard in the turns, otherwise probably okay all the way around for a cheap tire.

Well below freezing (32deg F or 0deg C) for us in most locations is non existant. I would also add that if the ambient temperature is below freezing then I would expect that behavious frm most tyres.

A few here (Aus) have had them and not mentioned anything (but I believe they come from the hotter parts of the country).

Cheers for the update. Good to hear more opinions.

Got them too (I stay in france)

definitly better than re040 on dry (test them on road and track)

better confort(personal opinion)
less noise

re40 a little better on wet and cold days ....

but for the price : definitly a very good tire

the road band on the nankang is smaller than the re040 band

I will perhaps try to put 4 tires 245/40R18 next time ...

I think you will find that there are very few tyres with stiffer sidewall than the 040's and although I dont have them, I doubt the nankangs are going to be one of the few that are.

cheers

thats the tires i have on the car right now... ok for warm weather, slippery on water and dont think about using these for racing... overall its a good tire for everyday driving. if you ordered a set of pirellis try to use them on days were youre really going to drive the car hard....

Thank you.

I have PZero and are stiffer than 040/050, I'm looking for tires with "strong" sidewall.

Do you know Nitto 555?
