MazdaSpeed wheels...TPMS WORKS!!
Hey everyone!!
Just got back from the DC Mazda Rev It Up (Great event...but, don't ask me my times! :p) At the MazdaSpeed tent, they had a beautiful RX-8 with all the current MazdaSpeed add-ons. Me, another RX-8 owner and the Mazda rep were looking at the wheels and pretty much confirmed that the TPMS WAS fitted to the wheels! I mentioned that this goes against what many people and Mazda dealerships have said, but we kept looking and the TPMS sensors were on. Hopefully, it wasn't just for show!! :D

I saw those wheels. How did you confirm that TPMS was installed on the wheels? Just curious. I saw the weight stamped on the wheels - they're pretty light. I guess for $3500+ they should be both light and nice looking. p.s. ( I think legally they'd have to be TPMS-compatible)

Like I said, I really hope that it just wasn't for show...the car was never started, so can't say for sure if the TPMS system as a whole was working or not. But those MazdaSpeed forged wheels sure are pretty. The red-MazdaSpeed 8 was a real looker with the full body-kit on and the gold-forged wheels. Gunmetal would be stunning on my Ti-grey 8!! :D

Uh, the TPMS is inside the rim, so you wouldn't have seen anything unless you know what the difference is in the design of the valve stem.
I was there, too and that was the most beat-up "MazdaSpeed" RX-8 I've come across.
Both side skirts were falling off and the paint was a mess.
It also lacked some of the other J-Spec goodies that I have seen in the past on other "MazdaSpeed" RX-8s.
It was just a regular NA spec RX-8 with the 5 body kit parts and the forged rims.
BTW - those rims are made by Rays, so they dont specifically fit the TPMS - they have just been thrown in there and balanced to make it work which is the option for most people.
I just got a set of Rays G-Games Wolf 77 rims in 19" and the TPMS wont work at all on these because the valve stem is actually mounted in the body of the rim and not the lip.
