Interested In Volks

I'm really interested In getting some new rims and I think I've decided on the type that I'd like to get. I want to get the Volk Racing SF-Challenge in 19 x 8.5 with a +34 offset in the front and 19 x 19.5 with a +36 offset in the back. Do you guys know if that would run me any issues like with rubbing or turning? Also I was wondering if anyone with these rims could tell me where they bought them so that I could get the best deal. Oh I also plan on dropping my car with the mazda speed springs in the future so would that setup cause any problems?

Thanks

my opinion is dont worry about the rims until you lower your car or else it wont look right. it wont look right at all, especially with your 2k+ rims. go with coilovers before rims.

i wouldn't worry so much with coilovers. get the rims you like then wisely choose the springs you want accordly to how far you want to lower your car. Then down the road if you think the ride height if perfect then swap in a nice pair or struts (konie or tok's). In your case mazdaspeed springs hardly drop the car so you'll be find IMO.

You will rub in the rear, for sure.

I appreciate the feedback guys,
RA-Eight do you suggest another setup that would not rub that sits flush with the fender?

danomite used that exact setup

if you're going to run those kind of offsets they will look very good but you'll definitely have to roll or aggresively shave your rear fenders

I was in the same boat, and wanted to get a "mild" offset. Got x9.5, +43 rear on my Volk GTS, and 275/30. Doesn't rub when it's just me, but with any passenger, I rub on bumps. I will shave the rear fender soon. I regret not getting a more aggressive offset, now that I will need to shave anyway.

I don't rub at all with my Volk setup....even with four large adults in the car. Offsets make all the difference.

What size rim are you running and in what offset?

Danomite I think is running the exact same specs on his SF Challenge. Search for "the whip". I might have even asked him the same question.

i have this set up and when i was on S-techs (rear drop of 0.7") i rubbed insanely bad with one person sitting in the back, occasionally on dips, bumps, driveways. requires a fender shave/roll. the front is no problem.

btw RA, do you still need pictures? i completely forgot to take some for you. sorry.

Danny - I think I'm good. Your descriptions were good enough for me. Thanks!

so heres the thing i've talked to danomite and he said he does not rub at all so i think i am just completely confused now, offsets confuse the s*** out of me. Who wants to explain to me exactly how it works and why everyone believes that i will rub but someone who is running it says hes not rubbing? lol

hmm... you are talking about 19x9.5 +36 rear with what size tires? i have volks sf-challenges in that spec running 275/30/19 tires. how much of a drop did IM_Danomite say he did?

I'd say this is the fitment you should run on the RX8. A lot will be determined by your camber settings in the rear also.

19x8.5 +34 with 245/35/19 A disk and 50mm lip
19x9.5 +48 with 275/30/19 B Disk and 56mm lip

you can go with a +40 in the rear but only in A disk, so your LIP WILL NOT CHANGE. Same as the B disk +48.

If you want to maximize your lip you will need to roll your fenders enough to get the 9.5 +36 in the rear, then you can net 69mm of lip.

i just checked all the offsets in my catalogue. If you're interseted PM me and let me know what the best price you got is and i'll see if I can match or beat it and provide you with solid fitment info.

thanks, Rishie
