i haven't done much to my car, but i have dropped it with tein s. the preload is the answer. of course, they could be fake, or you could have the rear up front and the front in the rear, but i doubt it.
for those who said they didn't have to go through this preload step, that's fine. you are either wrong and your 8 could drop more, or your shop did a good job. i had mine installed, measured before and after, and immediately after i noticed it dropped (visually) but not as much as i was expecting. so i measured -- it was about half of what it claimed. so i talked with my vendor (dpe - he's the **** and helped me immensely). basically my install guys tightened those bolts while the car was still up on the lift, so it didn't settle properly at first. after loosening those bolts and retightening them with the car on the ground, my car immediately dropped another bit.
so, if you didn't have to do this step, that's cool, tip your install guys b/c they're good ... or, you're mistaken and you could drop a little more. it's a very common install mistake from what i hear - it's easier for them to tighten the bolts while the car is up on the lift, so they do but that doesn't let the full weight of the car settle.
