I need help with getting some rims!!

Ok, i've read a ton of fourms on here about wheel sizes but for some reason i just cant figure it out. I know what i want but no idea what the numbers would be. What i'm looking for is aftermarket rims that have like a 3 inch lip in the back and about a 2 inch lip in the front. I want the front and rear rims to be the same width, probably 10" unless they wont fit i would be happy with as small as 9". I wanted about the same sidewall heighth as the stock tires have, but i could change that a little too. So i dont know if that set up is possible and if so, can someone tell me what offsets the front and rear would be. And i dont want to roll the fenders or adjust the camber and all that too much either. so i hope i can do that. If anyone can help me that would be excellent, i know there are alot of these threads and it's probably getting annoying but i'm so lost here. Thanks guys!!

Wait... so you want a staggered setup without the staggered setup? Why would you want different sized lips with the same sized tires? That wont look very *insert word here* (cant think of one)

yeah, that doesn't make much sense.
get some 18x9.5's, somewhere in the 35 offset range. then you can rotate.

what brands, model wheels are you looking for?

Ok, so if i got some 18x9.5's for the front and 18x10's for the rear would that make the lip somewhat smaller in the front? I just dont want a big *** lip in the front, i think that would look dumb..ish. But yea i was thinking that the smaller front rim size would be a better choice too now that i thought about it. Im looking at getting a set of motegi touge, black with chrome lip for my ti gray rx8.

I think your approach is all wrong.
First you should find the WHEEL that you actually want, once you have it picked out, we can help you pick the right size / offset. Instead of speculating on what the lip size will be, if you have the model # for us, we can help you make a more informed decision.

Is the Motegi the only wheel you're looking at?
What price range are you working with?

Do you want to be able to rotate your tires?

Yea i'm pretty sure that i like the motegi's the best after looking at them again. So yea lets stay with the motegi's. And i looked for a model number for them and couldnt find one, there just called "touge". There are a bunch on ebay if you want to look at them. And as far as price range, i was looking to spend less that 800 for the rims, tires not sure yet, i just want to figure out what size rims i can run without running into problems with them rubbing. So what do you think about that? Can i do it? Oh and also I was thinking that i want them flush whith the fenders as much as possible too and i dont know if that is possible without a roll? I appreciate all your help guys!

do you want to be able to rotate the tires?
in other words: will all 4 wheels be the exact same size?
Some people (myself included) run staggered setups so that the wheels are more flush. The downisde there is that since the rear wheels / tires are larger, I cannot rotate the tires.

ok...so I guess i can chime in here.

Staggered setups vary in lip sizes depending on the rim style you get. You'll have to coordinate with the makers of the wheel to find a definite answer. Some wheel makers make their lip size contingent to their offset - so be aware. Best to ask the seller/vendor or maker for the specific lip information.

If you're gonna go w/18's - a good look to be aggressive would be 18x9 +30 all around (around that offset) - though it doesn't follow the staggered setup it'll save you money in the long run because buying two sets of tires a piece will get expensive down the road - and judging by your budget for wheels, that won't be a good thing.

If you want to stay staggered though 18x9+30F and 18x10 +45R will look fine.

The 'will it fit' and the 'yes it did fit' thread is also good sources for info.

p.s. - BE SURE TO GET THE CORRECT OFFSET

OFFSET = LIFE

yes..it's that important

Ok, so I was looking at sizes of the rims i want and i could do a 18x9 +25 front and 18x10 +30 rear, is that gonna look gay and not line up with the fenders, can always get small spacers if i gotta i guess, but dont want to if i dont have to. So what do you guys think? Look ok and not rub anywhere??

^You think an 18x10 +30 will not rub? Yes, it will rub bigtime.

The lower the offset, the farther it sits out. Spacers effectively lower the offset. Spacers would make your problem worse.

Ok, so that idea is f'd...my next option then...and this may work since its almost stock set up.... a set af helo tease HE825's 18x8.5 +45 all around. I know they're a little skinnier than stock and a little out, will these work with no rubbing? Told you guys i didnt get this, i think im getting closer now with your help rather than buying an $800 set of rims that wont fit.

I think you're mixing up the offsets. An offset of +45 (what you're looking at) would stick out more than the +50 (stock wheels). The lower the offset, the more it sticks out. That's why everyone is saying that +30 offset would rub against your fenders.

I can't remember if the stock wheels are 18x8 or 18x8.5, but that could make the difference bigger.

Stock is 8" wide. A 45 offset on 8.5" is less aggressive than 45 offset on 9.5" but more aggressive than 45 on an 8" btw. 8.5 +45 is a pretty weak fitment but it will fit perfectly fine.

Ok, yea that link helped, im thinkin im gonna go with the 18x8.5 +45 helo's all around. And if i tooks gay, well then whatever, but from the pics and setups on that page it looks like that should look ok. Wider in the back would be better but 8.5 is the widest they go so i think thatd look fine all around. Any other suggestions before i order them?
