I bent my rim

Yeah.. so I'm looking online to buy a stock OEM 18" rim

http://www.finishlinewheels.com/rx8-...bafc0c4355fd6b

Can someone take a look at the link above and tell me if the OEM 18" rim is the "bright polish" or "silver" ? $225 + $16 shipping doesn't seem TOO bad, eh?

i believe it would be silver, which is conveniently cheaper. the polished should go on the shinka.

Just an FYI, here's another source...

Not quite as cheap but shipping or available may change that picture.

is it a good idea to recondition the bent rim? or better to just buy a good/new rim?

I live in northern NJ, so its 40 min drive to LI to that shop. I'm just not sure what the cons are to reshaping a bent rim

i heard that they do great quality work. just called my brothers friend (he used to work at the shop) and he said that they do stock and aftermarket rims and itll be like new condition. maybe you should take a few pictures and send it to them and ask if its repairable and so forth.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. I want to put new tires on my 8, but I have to get this bent rim fixed or replaced first.

sorry to jack the thread, but i am looking to put the rx8 oem wheels on my solara. i live in downtown atlanta, so i was wondering how strong they are. i have bent three of my mille miglia wheels from potholes, so i need something stronger. i am hoping that since this was one of the few threads i found regarding bent rims, maybe they are pretty strong. any tips?

also, i read that the wheel weight is about 22 pounds with tires, is this true? how heavy is just the wheel?

Wheel weight on the stock 18" is about 22 pounds for JUST the wheel.
