Hypermax vs. FLTA-2

hey guys,

Im down to these two.

Which one has a better ride quality on the street? any idea?

Ive heard that JIC's can be pretty unforgiving on the street.

Also, any pros/cons about these would be appreciated.

*sigh* if only I had twice as much to get Zeals

Thanks

I've been thinking about saving for Zeals myself...

As for your picks, I've been thinking about the HKS RS coilovers also. They state that coilover was designed to be more forgiving for harsher roads and the front spring rates are softer than on the Hypermax.

The hipermax RS' design was targeted for the more harsher roads we have here in the U.S. so they tend to ride a little bit softer compared to the original hipermaz II's (which I have). For example: I have my hipermaxII's set to a conservative stiffness level, if 1 being the stiffest and 30 being the lightest, i have mine set to 17 in front and 15 in the rear.

Now to get that same setting with the RS, you would need to set the dampners a little closer to 1. The RS tends to run a little bit softer, but they pretty much feel the same. I've driven in both but hipermax II's are able to become stiffer. Hope that all came out right..trying to leave work at the same time.

i have the HKS RS Coilovers. they are what deedubb said. more streetable then the II's, meant for the harsher roads here. they are excellent. and i love every minute of it. i was really close in buying the JIC coilovers as well. before i purchase'd the hks rs. i heard many reviews and talks about the JIC's are known to blow easily, while its a much stiffer ride then the HKS. hope thats good enough info.

well, i've beat my JIC's ta hell and back and they haven't gone south on me yet. i haven't driven on HKS components, so i won't be able to compare them with the FLT-A2's. however, the A2's are very stiff - very little damping, but it feels like you're driving on rails... until you bust the *** end loose! lol. i'd say that if you're looking for a comfortable daily driving experience, go with HKS RS. if you wanna rattle the fillings outta yer head while driving to Safeway for some milk, go with JIC. how's that? lol.

dd sends...

Ive seen the silk road around...but havent heard much at all about them. Sorta wary to try something I havent heard of before :-/

Yeah the LE28N's in gunmetal are gonna be sick..

I have an INGS front, side, with MS rear right now, in tit grey... and it.... just looks wrong without rims. I think i may be picking up either a Seibon TS-II or a CF Veilside hood veeeery shortly as well!

wheeeee I love upgrading!

Lazi,

How much stiffer would you say the HKS RS are than the OEM coilovers?

Do you feel a dramatic increase in handling performance, in other words, is the dampening still up to par with the spring rates?

OEm, actually has a shock spring combination vs. a integrated coilover.

But nonetheless, I assume it would be a fair amount stiffer.
