How to turn OFF the TPMS
#28
The light came on with my chromed set. But in theory it should come on in my winter set if it is malfunctioning ( aka there not there ) and it doesn't. But im not worried im perfectly happy with the light not showing.

How can your TPMS light come on with no sensors in the winter set?

You can't switch the TPMS off by modifying the as-built data. A Mazda engineer in the factory in Hiroshima with special equipment can, but you cannot do it in the field unfortunately (not easily, if you have lots of time and programming skill though, go for it!). If Mazda decided that they wanted to make this a programmable feature, then it is sometimes possible for them to add a 'programmable parameter'. These are things like wheel/brake size, that change depending on the spec of the vehicle. But for TPMS, which is a regulated item, I doubt that this will happen.
I would think your best bet would be to suppress the signal from the TPMS module to the warning light. If someone could find which wire from the module sends what type of signal to the warning lamp, maybe we can figure a way of blocking that signal. An oscilloscope shot of the signal when the warning lamp is on (and off, for comparison) would be useful.
Cheers.

My TPMS light has never come on in 14+ months of owning the car and I have two sets of sensor. The TPMS warning light is supposed to come on if pressure is less than 26 PSI or greater than 49 PSI.
I understand that Mazda can adjust the range - so if your sensors are out of whack, see what the dealer can do.

He's as bad as Can
Would this be possible to fabricate, a TPMS transmitter? The TPMS system works by transmitting a low level radio frequency to the main unit in the dash right? Can something be made that uses the cigarette lighter as a power source that transmits four “ the tires are at 34 PSI” dummy signals?

Following your thought maybe we need to find a way pick up the RF and try to duplicate it.
FYI the pressure is not simply a pass/fail scenario, the wds actually displays the pressure in each tire.
