How Long Will Stock Tires Last

Does anyone know approximately how many miles stock tires (6-speed) last?
I've got a 36,000 mile lease and I'm wondering If I'll need to replace at some point.
Thanks

I have seen anything from 10K to 25K miles on this board. Just depends on your driving style, type of roads you drive on, temperature, etc., etc. Like concrete freeways will wear tires faster then asphalt. A spirited hour spent on 50 miles of twisty road could probably equal the same wear as 150 miles of freeway driving.

I guess it boils down to this equation: Fun = Tire Wear

Like he said, I took off my RE040's for winter with 21,600 miles on them and they still measure 4/32" tread. That is with a few days at the track also, but on the street I take it easy.

I've had fun, and worn them out in about 10K miles. I will be putting different tires on in the spring (the winter tires are still fine!).

check the tread patterns on all 4's.... if you are abit tight on the $$$ atm and the front ones have deeper treads than the rear ones..... swap them

Mine only laste till about 15,000miles--the rears at least--the Bridgestones are expensive and don't last for sh*!. I replaced them with Nitto 555s and haven't looked back.

13k here with two of us autocrossing 3 times (about 50 runs) on a surface that eats tires. S0-3 pole positions now and they are quiet compared to the 040's.

The bridgestones have a treadwear rating of 140. That is LOW.

I have 25K on mine and there's still about 5 or 6k left of treadwear. Depends on how you drive, but you can figure an average of about 18k with moderate to spirited driving, and 24k+ with normal to moderate (what I do). If you race it, then probably around 10-15k miles.

I haven't done any burn outs, or drifting, some of the roads I drive are a little harsh.
When I took my car in at 7500 they said I had about another 7500 left in them.
so thats 15000 for me.

How in heck did you accomplish that? Have you been practicing your drifts or what?

A mechanic told me never to use the recommended tire pressure on the sticker door because the manufacturer's psi recommendation is for a smoother ride. He said that to get the maximum tread life out of the tires to go 10 under the recommended psi that reads on the tire, not on the car door. In my case my tires read 50psi so I am using 40psi. I don't know if that is true or not but I'm going to try it for a while.

Take a look at your tires now and see if they're evenly wearing. I'd be curious to know if they continue to wear evenly (assuming they're wearing evenly so far) at 40psi if you decide to keep them up there long term .
