Hi I'm new, need rim advice

Hi, I just bought an 05' RX8, very clean, 38,000 $19,000 low apr, from a Mazda dealer. It's all stock and there are a couple of mods I want to get for it right off the bat. Came with window tint which would have been my first mod, now I need some rims. Let me start off by saying I don't know sh** about cars, so I was wondering if I wanted to keep my tires, what size wheels do I need to get, been reading the owners manual, but can't understand some of the tech data, I have two sections under tires, first one says 225/55r16 94v and the other one says 225/45r18 91w. Can someone decipher what that means for me? So first, I need to know what size rims to get for my tires, I assume I need 4 18 inch rims since my tires are pilot sport 18's, all four. Second, what can I do with my stock mazda rims, are they worth anything? Third, where should I go to purchase rims for a good price? Fourth, what color would look good with my Titanium Gray RX? I'm thinking black, with the red stripe around the base?
Please help. Thanks so much.

First Off You should SEARCH, but that being said i am in a good mood so i will help you out a little.

The Stock Rim size is 18*8 (18 is diameter, 8 is width) with a 50mm offset. So i would go with something similar to that size if you want to keep your tires. As far as offsets are concerned, the higher the number the more the wheels will be tucked into the wheel well, And the lower the offset the further the wheel will be pushed out for a more flush look. I definitely would not go higher that 50 as the rims are already tucked in a good amount.

As far as tire sizes it is pretty simple:

225/45/18 is the stock tire size (What you have now)

225 is the width of the tire in millimeters

45 is the aspect ratio of the tire, 45 signifies that the height of the sidewall is 45% of the width of the tire so 45% of 225 for your tires

And 18 is obvioulsy for the diameter of your wheels which are 18 inches

as far as color choices there are so many Black would look Ok on your car but if it was mine i would go for something like a dark gunmetal with a polished lip. Its all up to you and your tastes though. Just my opinion

Congrats on the car and Remember to SEARCH!! Good luck

EDIT: Added some more info

Thanks for the help guys. Yeah those time attacks are the style and color I was thinking would look good. Those carbon hoods are cool too, probably pretty expensive. You guys most have some serious money available to get all those mods, those red brake calipers look sweet, I'm going to rims and maybe a body kit, I can't imagine putting any performance enhancing mods on there, any suggestions on how to do this kind of stuff inexpensively? I have a gixxer too, and even those are expensive to mod.

whats your budget? With Volks you're looking at 3000+ with quality tires everythig else shouldn't be too heavy on your wallet but keep in mind, modding a rx8 isnt cheap at all especially if you want quality

I just got new wheels + tires off of ebay for $874. They are black with a crome lip, and they look sooo much better. their 18x8 and the tire is a 225/40/18.

and yes you can do things with your stock wheels. i just made $500 off of mine for the 4 wheels/tires/TPMS. and the shipping was around $200.

so all in all, i ended up only paying $374 for my new wheels and tires. Great deal IMO.

Cool

I'm new too.
I don't know where you are.
Search a little.
This is what i found...

http://www.kxwheels.com/ (not sure if posting links is allowed,if not sorry).

I live in Canada, and i think these guys just sell in Canada, but you might find rims you like here and then go look for the same ones in US.

O yeah, and I'm supposed to get my first car in a few days too ,yep its a RX8

so a stupid question then; if the stock offset is 50 mm, and I'm putting my stock rims with the stock tires back on, do I need to worry about any type of spacing?
or do the rims take care of any type of offset?
