Help with Wheel selection

I have been reading on this forum for a while and trying the search option with not so much luck so please don't get mad at me if this is being posted again. I really like the 5 spokes rims with a lip like the volk GTS i think. I'm afraid to order wheels and pay alot of money and then they don't fit. I don't understand what offset really means??? If somebody could explain please. Also I would not like a stagered setup so i would like 4 same size wheels but again would the offset be the same on all 4 or different on front and back?? So to be more clear 5 spoke wheels with a lip, like to stay with 18" width 8 to 9 and would not like to have issues stoping the car because off the wheels being much havier then stock. I don't want to make this any longer so please pictures would help of the wheel you guys would suggjest. Thanks

my wheels are 5 spoke with a polished lip. the question is do you want to do any work to make them fit or just bolt them on no problems.

There is nothing wrong with your setup for your car. My 8 is red and I would like silver rims with a polished rim. I like black with polished rim but think that it might be just to dark for my red. i might be wrong, but thats why i have been looking on the net for over 2 weeks for ideas and finaly made a post to have you guys help me out. I would maybe even go for a gunmetal finish with polished lip. Before I forget I want to just bolt on the rims and later i will lower the 8 and install chambers. Thanks again for your guys responses many thanks

Offset: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/...jsp?techid=101

If you get 18x9 wheels (meaning 18" wheels, 9" wide) you would want an offset around +35. If you want more of a flush look (meaning the wheel sticks out farther, go for a +30 offset). Keep in mind the lower the offset the more the wheel sticks out (away from the suspension).

If you're willing to roll your fenders you can fit an 18x9 +27ish wheel with your 245/40/18 or 255/35/18 tires.

BTW nice choice on the GTS

Thanks for clearing up the offset value!!! I was afraid of the wrong offset for my tires to stick out. Some people like that but not for my taste. I also would not like to roll my fenders unless it would be really needed after I lower my 8. I think to go the safe way I would go with a 18x8.5 offset unsure maybe around 30. I also am not sure about wheel weight I looked at some wheels that I really like but they some are 22lbs each some are even 25lbs each. Is that maybe a little havy to the point I'm goping to feel it on my brakes??? My previous car you could really feel the brake fade wich I really don't wan't to loose with the 8 because I really like the braking power it has now. Thanks again to all your responses I'm defenently much closer to make a choice on some rims.

Ok if you dont want to roll your fenders then 18x8.5 +30 would be your best bet. Wheel weights vary alot and are Brand influenced. In a nutshell, more expensive wheels weigh less. Stock wheels are 22 lbs, so you definitely dont want to go over 22. (Its not a big deal, I just feel if your buying wheels you might as well choose something light as well as looking good).

The Enkei RPF1 18x8.5 +30 weighs 18.3lbs and is roughly $255 ea wheel. Always a good deal.

It really just comes down to what you like and what you can afford. Whats your price range? The rpf1's are ~$260 ea whereas the Volks are over $700 ea

I only think those look good with low offsets ( like in the negatives). Some guy was selling a set on here with a +50 offset and they looked hideous. However... they do look like sex in 18x12 -20 lol

+1 w/ross dawg

before even entertaining any thoughts of purchasing new wheels - understanding your price range is crucial because gawd forbid you get your sights locked on some 2k wheels when you're rockin' a $900 budget

Ok guys thanks for all your input but looking at many pictures and even looking at my stock wheels I'm thinking now of using 19s. For my taste the stock rim is 18x8 and to small i would really like to go just a little wider but the rim that I like is the TSW Nogaro only comes 19x8 or 19x9.5. I don't care about price but want to spend 10k on upgrades and if I save a little on rims leaves me more for the rest. I'm unsure on offset but thinking to go with 40. Let me know what you guys think
