Help on new installed rotors

Help on new installed rotors

Just finished installing new slotted cross drilled rotors on car, I think I did everything correctly. I had to bleed the brakes on my rear wheels but when I do brake I dont get the same response from before when I brake. Also, At the end of coming to a complete stop, the rear wheels make some kind of grinding noise. Not like a damaging grind more like it sounds like if the pads are griping too much, to be honest I don't know what it is. Do I have to "bed-in" the new rotors or anybody have any suggestions what I might of done of wrong or should I just have them inspected ( which I don't want but I might have to) by a break repair shop?

Did you install new brake pads as well? Did you clean the rotors with brake cleaner? Why did you have to bleed the rear brakes? The brakes on the rx8 are pretty straight forward. New brake pads have to broken in. does the brake pedal feel soft if so there is air in the lines. When you bleed your brakes you have to make sure the brake master cylinder is full of brake fluild to prevent air in the lines.

Bed in the brakes using the recommended hard braking procedure from the manuf. which you're using (or just simply come to a handful of hard stops from 60+ mph without letting the wheels come to a complete stop) so that the pads can transfer a nice film of compound on to those new rotors. Don't be shy with the bed in procedure. Really mash that pedal and engage ABS on dry pavement for a good bed-in.

1. After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.
2. Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph.
3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
4. Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down.
5. After step 4 your new pads are ready for use.

I installed new brake pads along with the rotors od course. I had to bleed the brakes because I had to take off the caliper off and of course that left the brake line open> I took offf the calipers beacause I couldn't put the piston back in so I had to disconnect it and apply pressure with an impact driver to twist the piston back in. The master cylinder was always full I kept checking it as I was bleeding each brake. As far as it feeling soft, can't really tell but it doesn't brake as firmly as before. Maybe I do have to brake in the pads. Will do tonight by the stockyards behind my house, and try in that bed in procedure. Thanks alot!!!
