Do you have fog lights? If you do then you have Sport suspension. If you don't then you have Base model suspension. Do you have DSC button on the left side of the steering wheel above the little coin box door?
I assume your car is an Automatic.

Look at, preferably measure, and see if the front brake rotors are larger than or equal to the diameter of the rear brake rotors. The sport suspension has larger front rotors, 12.7 in. (323 mm) vs. the base model which has 11.9 in. (303mm) front rotors. Both models have the same 11.9 in. (302 mm) rear rotors.

If your 8 came with 18" rims you have sport. If you have 16" wheels in the us its non-sport.
From what I read and was told Mazda had, for a limited time over seas a non-sport 5 speed with 16" wheels that was sick on the torque.
