Help: how to remove "M" from center wheel cap?

I j/ bought a set of RX8 wheels for my MS6, and is currently in the
process of sandblasting. prior to powdercaoting. I have all the center caps in hand,
but i wanna remove the "M" from the center cap so that i can
paint the cap itself to match the powdercoating wheels.

can anyone here advice how to remove the "M" it in a safe way? w/o breakin' any clips? and how to re-assemble it?

Please advice!

Thanks in advance!

on the backside of the cap there are locking tabs you can get loose with a small pocket flat head screw driver be very delicate the tabs can be easily broken thats how i did mine

yes, pop them out from the inside. that's how all center caps work.

Thanks gregs.
Got them off but broke a few tabs. Nothing major tho. I can glue or epoxy them back if I need too.

kind of amazing how noone ever fully reads anything.
he's talking about taking the logo off the cap, not taking the cap off the wheel.
i wondered this myself, consider taping the logo off.... i ended up painting it all together.

The M is molded into the CAP He would have to sand it down or fill it in. You could also leave it and PAINT the rest of the cap the same color of the wheels.

I find it amazing too...

Here is a picture of the back of the center cap:

Looks like the chromed flying M is just glued onto the center cap. On similar set up I have heated the M with a hair dryer and used a plastic blade to lift/pry apart the two parts. Afterward, I would use Glue or 3M automotive tape to put it all back together.

I looked at the 8 oem wheels i had sittin in my room, and some of them looked like it attached on, and some were one solid piece.
so depending on whichever you have, i recommend painting the whole thing.

heres a cell phone picture
