Hawk HP+ vs EBC Redstuff
Hawk HP+ vs EBC Redstuff
Anyone knows how are these 2 pads for daily drive and occasional track (3 trackdays/yr)?
Has tried Hawk HPS, which performed even worst than OEM pads on track. So, now looking for a better pads for both daily drive and occasional track.
The EBC Redstuff is ceramic hold up to 1300F and is advertised as low dust, low noise, better wear. Think it must be comparing with other track pads to come out these descriptions.
Hawk HP+ operating on 100-800F and more expensive than the EBC Redstuff though...
Any comments which one has better bite on track?

im surprise that you think the HPS is worst than the OEM pads. Cause i had HPS too, they never over heat on me, maybe only once during the track day, but as soon as the next concer comes up, its alive again.
I had horrible over heat on the OEM pads, they just don't stop on the track.
but those are not the main point.
i recently picked up Redstuff for my rears too. my brother has it on his subie. he likes it.

As you can see from my review, I really like my RacingBrake ET800s. Although, they may be a bit overkill for the "occasional" track day, in which case the ET500s might be a better option (and cheaper).
I agree with George, I recently put on ET800's for a track day at Reno-Fernley. I really like these pads, I have also done a couple autox events and these pads work very well there too. I've never used any other pads on the RX-8, but on my STI I had Hawk HP+ and on my SRT-4 I ran EBC Yellowstuff (i know u were asking about reds). Not the best comparo as those pads were on different cars, but I've run all three at the track and all worked well( I track about 3 times a year also), but for daily driving I like the ET800's better as they dust a little less. I'd get the ET-800's over the others without thinking twice.
to all for another to add to the list that has been used as daily and track weekends. axxis ult..
but the rears dust a lot..
beers
looking at the specs:
Hawk HP+ 100F-800F and EBC Redstuff ???F-1380F...
price wise, Redstuff is cheaper...
Definitely won't buy HPS anymore...really worse than the OEM...tested and proven on track...

Temperature ranges are totally irrelevant and just marketing BS. I love my HP+ but will be looking for something that doesn't squeak under 15mph and doesn't make my wheels look anthracite colored. Racing Brake 500 may be it.
strange...just received my EBC Redstuff. They are quite thin.
The front 10.5mm; rear 7mm
rough measure with ruler though. Stock thickness is 14.xx for front and can't remember the rear.
no wonder so many users has complain that EBC finished up quite fast.

I'd have respectfully disagreed with that Hawk Ceramic statement up to the WGI track days, being as I went three weekends in a row without worrying about pads. Now, I'll state they are great street pads with occasional track use. The Glen will kill just about anything and those HP Ceramics did the job, but there is nothing left of a brand new set after that weekend.
