I've put on about 3500 miles on the F1's, they're still good as ever, no problems at all.

I don't think I'll have much to report until I put 10k miles or more on them and they start to show some wear.

 

I have put over 10,000 miles on set of Goodyears and tread looks like still new. They are still best summer tire ever owned, dry and wet driving. If you review all the 245X40X18 tires in this class on tirerack.com, you will find there is not a close second even comparing the g Force T/A KD (poor tread wear, noise, wet handling) and the S-03 (poor tread wear and noise) to the Eagle F1's.

I probally have another 10,000 miles on tires and they still perform very well. They have been an excellent wet and dry tire and is still one of the best rated tires on tirerack.com website. It is hard to tell how many additional miles I will get, but I think at least another 5k out of them.

 

I've been running the KDW2 for the last 3k miles and they are great. Tire noise wasn't that big an issue since they are a lot quieter than the OEM tires I had. Now that they're broken in right the performance is amazing. They were a little squirmy at first, but now the response in handling is great. They give a great sense of precision when cornering and stick like glue. I haven't had them long enough to say anything about wear, but the performance is excellent and noise isn't that bad. The only time I notice tire noise really is on the freeway... the grooved concrete surface we have here will cause low roaring sound from the tires but since I usually have the CD player going loud it doesn't bother me. On asphalt the tires are much quieter.

 

Ole Spiff, thanks for the review, I've been debating between the KDW2 or the Falken RT-615. The RT-615 would've have been a pruchase to satisfy my curiosity on what a near racing tire felt like, but the KDW2 sure is priced nicely.

A set of Enkei RPF1 18X9.5 with 255/40-18 sure would be nice.

 

I put 245/40/18 F1's on my stock rims, and like it a lot better than the OEM tires. Much quieter and definitely stickier.

Interestingly enough, each tire weights 1# less than the OEM Bridgestone.

Now that I'm FI, it seemed wise to have a bit more rubber to hook up to the pavement.

 

Sorry for dragging up an old thread...I was about to pull the trigger myself on 4 of the F1 GS-D3s and was just wondering, what PSI did you Goodyear F1 owners use for 245/40/18? Also did you get a realignment after installing the tires? You folks sound pretty happy with the treadlife so I think your PSI + alignment setup must be set pretty well for it. I see treadlife opinions for the F1s are all over the map, but some of the reported <10,000 miles on these on Tirerack kinda scares me a bit. Any of you folks have anything else to say on how the F1s held up?

 

I noticed on the track the tyres dont work well when they start heating up but in the wet they're sublime tyres. squirm quite abit due to V tread apparently.

I've had mine on for 10 000kms and the tread still looks suprisingly good with one track day in there.

As for PSi on the track i had it had 40 hot/32 cold. Daily I got it at 34. Might pump that up abit and see how it goes though.

 

Just mounted a set of 245/40/18s because the OEM Potenzas were howling.

To my surprise, the F1s seem a little loud too. Everyone else is saying how much quieter they are.

Looking forward to checking the performance once the release compound is worn off.
