Getting Ready To Paint Calipers Question

I finally bought a set of wheels for my 8. I really wanna paint my calipers. I've read several threads and post and diys on here an I know the calipers are easy to do with the G2 paint system. The only question I have is did most of you paint the whole caliper or just the parts that shows? I've seen numerous pics but it never shows behind the caliper.

That's what I was figuring. I may as well make a day of it and put new stainless brake lines on the car while I'm down there and just paint the calipers inside so I can take my time and do it right.

yhea thats the ticket. i removed everything when i did it. its a great time to swap to ss lines. i have them also. remember to bleed your brakes when your done. i also had to bleed the master cly. be careful of brake fluid cause it will eat paint

i painted only the caliper/shoe.

i left the dust shield alone. I went with a piano black to match my wheels.

p.s. - check out some slotted n' dimpled rotors

I just painted the calliper in my old car. I was partially lazy and partially rushed to do a perfect job, plus I didn't have the G2 paint, just some spray can crap from pep boys lol. But for an hour job with just spray paint and blue tape it turned out acceptable. I'll try and find a pic..

I didn't paint the shield and it drove me crazy, they looked so crappy next to all of my pretty parts. I had to paint it flat black. Looks way better now.

yea thats what I used for mine as well, same stuff as far as I'm concerned, be it engine paint or brake calliper paint, it'll work the same. no way in hell are your brakes ever going to be hotter then your engine lol

no red 200?? that's prbly the first color I've ever noticed on brake callipers (painted / modded) so it just really grabbed me at first, plus it's my favorite color so can't help it lol.

i know what you mean though, i'll see a nice car with red callipers from a distance and be like "ooooo i wonder if they are Brembo, Endless, Stoptech etc..." and creep up closer and see they are just painted =[ lol what ya gunna do when those set ups run a few grand lol

That looks good for spray paint shinsoku. I ended up getting yellow caliper paint since my car is yellow. That should really pop with the black rims I bought.

I really would love to do the BBK but 1,500 is gonna make my girlfriend yell at me for spending that much cash. Sometimes I really hate how much aftermarket upgrades cost for our cars and it seems you don't get alot of gains in the horsepower department for what you spend. The guy I work with has a Honda Civic and he picks up stuff all day for cheap on that car. It seems he can get 5 or 6 performance parts for what RX-8 owners pay for one

try to get one used? alot of rx8 guys go with RacingBrake if that helps. Dont concern yourself with hondas, just laugh when you blow by them.
