Talking Felipe and I Refinished rims polished silver to Gunmetal. Tell me what you guys think

Felipe and I just finished refinishing rims that i bought from Thoia ( fellow rx8 club member) They were polished silver on the spokes and the lip but they were pretty beat up . So instead of keeping the polish look i wanted a nice all gunmetal look for my blue rx8. I have enclosed some pics of what it looks like and i might make a diy on it. It took us since 9:00 am till 3:00 pm. I also redid my brake calipers :D

P.s i will have more pics after i finish waxing them and installing them on my car...

not too sure about painting the rotors red although it does look better than rust. FWIW gunmetal looks nice with blue. Kinda prefer gold though.

{felipe} hy well ill do a Diy as soon i know its sucksesfull, cause the fisrt time I did it it wasent a succes, the paint was cheapin off cause of the paint i used, and of the way i did, this time i used differrent paints and more steeps, i really hope its going to be ok.

Here are some new pics of the rims on the car.

oh and about the brake pads, last time i painted blue, they were ok till i painted them red, they were painted like for a year, ill see what happens this time.
ill post to confirm it was a succes, and ill do the diy.

How did you refinish them to gunmetal? What materials and process did you use?

Thumbs up

i will tell u *** soon as i know that it is good, because i dont want other people doing it, if its not going to be a nice job, and ruining their rims. give me 2 days driving around and ill tell u, today im letting the car sit, to let the paint dry.
its some spray paint specially for rims, and then lacquer, ill give the names and process as soon as i know its not going to chip. ofcourse u have to prime, sand all that kind of crap. ill tell u all the steps. in a few days.

Looking Good Dany!!!

Whass Up Dany, Wow the rims look hot man! The gunmetal on the rx8 blue looks real classy, after seeing your paint job makes me have second thoughts about them. Well I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and post back when you put your ms spoiler and springs on.

not meaning to come accross mean...but my opinion, and some suggestions:
Opinion: something doesn't look right. I like that style rim, I'm putting a set on my 8. I'm looking at gunmetal as well. I think what it's lacking is shine. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but they look to dull. I think additionally, you've created to many color contrasts. The blue car (with tinting which looks great) and the black rims with a red caliper and hub. I think it could be pulled off a bit better...so here are some suggestions....

Suggestions:
1. Center caps - I think you should cover up the center opening.
2. Black lugs? not sure...might be good, might not...one of those hard to tell without seeing
3. Shine up the tires. (tire wet or something like that_
4. Can you get the rims to shine more? They look a bit dull. Shinier black? or clear coat?

I have not yet waxed them

I have not yet waxed them yet. Once i polish them and wax they will be more vibrant.

I am going to buy new lugs nuts, and center caps.
