I did a search on the Enkei RPF1's and I did not see any posts that applied to my situation. I am considering jumping on the RPF1 bandwagon but it seems like all the people on the board are running wider sizes and bigger tires, not to mention using this wheel in a lot of hard driving situations (autocross, track, etc.)

I am interested in putting my stock rubber on a set of 18x8 RPF1's, but being a total newbie to buying new wheels, are there any potential pitfalls? I believe the "offset" is only a +35.

The car will be used as a daily driver in the non-winter months on rough Michigan roads. I will be looking to keep the TPMS. The car will only be tracked at most two or three times a year (at most). Is this wheel durable enough for daily use, and will it have any effect on ride quality? I assume there would be no loss in the handling department. Will this size with the +35 offset fit and look right?

I like the way this wheel looks (and costs) and it appears to be a weight savings as well. I would appreciate any advice or input on people who know a lot about this wheel.

The G-games 77 1-pc. wheel also caught my eye and I think I can get it for the same price. But from the limited amount of information I've gathered to this point, I'm going to assume that this is an apples to oranges wheel and probably for looks only? I am interested in a performance wheel if I am going to do this. I could not find any weight information, but I believe this wheel fits the car in stock form as well.

If anyone knows anything about these as well, I would appreciate the input. But I am leaning towards RPF1's right now.

 

Good luck getting a straight answer...everyone on this forum plugs the 18 x 9.5 +45...I wish I had more experience to help you out.

 

The stock tire wil fit just fine on the 18x8. (thats the same size as your stock wheel.)

Weight savings is huge, I am not sure if the TPMS will still work as I dont have a TPMS in my enkeis (they have race tires on, so I dont use them for street use). they will be plenty durable for street use. lots of people here do it.

 

oh and for offset, mine are the 18x9.5 +45, so if you use a +35 it would move to the outside of the car..... I think the extra +10 would cause them to stick out of the car and look like a frog.

but then again, I know some people have the deep dish wheels on their rears, so maybe there is enough room for an extra +10???

 

speedemon you also have to remember the outer edge of an 8" wide wheel will be 3/4" further into the wheel well than a 9.5" wide wheel (of the same offset) which is ~19mm. So your 9.5" wide +45 offset wheels will still be ~9mm further out than 8" wide +35mm offset wheels

 

Also forgot to ask about lug nuts. Do the wheels come with lug nuts, and do they have any security features, such as wheel locks? Or is that an additional charge at most places?

 

+35 is Ok for an 8" wheel

 

I believe Enkei wheels are only offered in 1" increments for width, starting with 7.5". I think the most common sizes for the RPF1 is 8.5" and 9.5".

Also, just a thought... why go through the bother and expense just to change from one 18" wheel to another. Granted the Enkei wheels are lighter in weight, but if you're going to use the same tires on them then you're not really searching for performance options, are you?

 

The RPF1s do not come with center caps (extra charge) or lug nuts of any type. Most wheel dealers can order the proper bolt-on center caps. They certainly look very nice on the wheels (I have them on my 19" RPF1s).

 

Thats not correct. Attached are the 18" wheel sizes for the Japan spec Enkei RPF1's. It is very similar for US spec.

I forgot to mention that my 8 is going into full-time duty this winter for the first time. So instead of buying new wheels for winter tires, I wanted to put winter tires on the stock rims for winter and "spoil" myself with some new rims for summer. Sneaky, eh?

So I figure if I'm going to get new rims, I should go for something that will make the car better, not just something for show.

 

i have been running those rims 18x8 with 35 offset for a year. no problems--love them. Strong, light wheels--take tms without a problem.
