For my tastes (I consider power-steering to be a work of the devil!) no negative effect, but some might consider the slightly higher steering effort a negative. Better to be informed than surprised. I also tend to like tires on the narrow side for mostly street use. Width helps in corners, but we spend most of our street time going straight and a narrow tire is much less disturbed by changes in the road surface than a wide one. Narrow also wears better and costs less. Super-wide for the street is mostly a style choice. Probably for best real-world performance one would go to a very light 17" wheel in the 7.5-8.5" range like the autocross guys seem to prefer, but that doesn't look as cool.

"paging Atilla"

haha basically i was told that a 18x9 +35 rim will not fit the 255/35R18. Oh and to add to the story when I went to the "extreme tire garage" and told them I wanted to change the size from 18x8 +48 to the new setup they are like, "uhh why the heck do you want to change the offset and make it wider, that will move it closer to the fender." I'm like.. wowww thanksss tips thats my goal. So i'm gettiing a quote from my guy who is going to roll my fenders, seems much more knowledgable on what I'm trying to accomplish.

Oh and "Extreme tire" reccommended a 255/40R18? you think that would be ok/preferable?

lolwut??

how will 255's not fit a 9" wheel?? we have people putting on 225's on 10" lol. That's retarded...i guess conservative would be more appropriate for their garage title.

255/40 is just a taller sidewall. You can do this but you might wanna stick w/the 35 sidewall for appearance purposes. There's of course the argument of function but that's not what we're concerned about - right?? lol

form > function

in this case anyways lol

EXACTLYY Atilla!

K well I'm going to go to a different place, their conservative style is becoming annoying quick.

I don't think they had a problem with the 255, they wanted to change the 35 to a 40 or 45 because of the and I quote, "change in speedo and fuel economy" and a bunch of other things.

Ok so for form do the 255/35 done.

I will update monday when I hear back from them.

I know you said you got 18x9.5 but the box says 18x8.5? Just want to make sure you noticed

Ross I want to thank you for noticing I really appreciate it.

I just looked at my quote and I did order 18x9.5 so it was there error.
I NOW HAVE 2 18X9.5'S AND 2 18X8.5'S LOL
I'm just glad it was caught now before I mounted it or tried to with tires.
I even "mock" mounted the 18x8.5 and was wondering why it didn't look much wider. EPIC idiot I am.

Thanks again rx8club.. jezz another week I bet before this error gets fixed and another week my car sits on blocks.

wow...

i thought you intentionally bought 18x8.5 - to which i was going to facepalm.

but since it was a mistake - i hope everything works out well.

lol - kinda sad fact but...i could tell those weren't 18x9.5's by just looking at the face of the rim. The cr kai's have a concave face at 9.5 but not at 8.5.

lol well im glad I have you guys around.. like I said I tottally would have mounted them and been like ****.

On another note...I got the tires today.. also just want to give credit to work and ravspec my dealer for handling everything so well. I'm overnight shipping them to cali from toronto (the 2 wrong ones) and they are covering all costs.

These companies really have GREAT customer service which I find rare these days. They got on the issue first thing in the morning and ravspec even responded to my 11pm emails last night lol.

Should have them mounted by friday, which last night was an unheard of idea. CAN'T WAIT.
