CR Kai or XT7

I've narrowed it down to these two in the bronze.

My 8 is a winning blue with stock body. I'm gonna order the wheels tomorrow.
Which should I get?

+1. I love the styling of the Kais, but they are a lot of $$ to be spending on wheels
that will ultimately heavier than stock.

Have you check out....dare I say......the Rota Torques? I know there are some wheel snobs here that say it is sacrilege to put Rotas on an RX8, but I think they look pretty damn good and are super affordable. I believe someone said they are 1 lbs. lighter than stock too.

For $700 shipped, it's really a killer deal for the same looks. I know that's what I would get if I wanted to get Kais.

Actually, I was showing my father the wheels I was going to get. He asked to see some other kinds of wheels and now he's going to buy me a set of wheels (long story). So, I'm now going to get Advan RG II's. I just have to find someplace with some.

Thanks for the opinions though.

Also would a 40mm offset be too much?

You get what you pay for in wheels, plain and simple.

I don't think that's being a wheel snob, that's just the reality. Now if both wheels were made the exact same way, but one is 700 a set, and the other is like 1100 or whatever, and the ONLY difference is the name on them then that might be an exception, but Rota's are cheap cast generic wheels, where Work's and other more expensive similar brands are forged and are made to order which is why they cost more. Not trying to be an *** or a wheel snob or whatever, just wanted to point that out as some folks might not know the difference and then end up disappointed afterwards after already parting with their $$, I made the same mistake when I first got into cars and such, I've since learned my lesson

Your absolutely right and I agree with you for the most part. I was think of the Kai's before and loved the looks, but the ended up being really heavy for some reason, eventhough they are name brand. If I can recall they were 24-25lbs for 18". Now that is heavier than stock and about $1200-1500 for a set.

Now the cheap Rota knockoffs are about 1/2 the price and they end up being about 21lbs. They look the same as the Work wheels, but they are cheaper and lighter. So that's were I got to really thinking about whether it was "worth it".

Anyway, it's just money right?

I wish we all had limitless budgets. I'd be rollin' on some phat wheels like yours.

40mm probably shouldn't be too bad especially if you choose your tire size correctly as well as your wheel width

I'm running a 275 rear tire with a +37 offset and im lowered alot

also, many people here on the forums run up to 275's on all four corners with a +45 offset with no problem, so if you want to go with a +40 offset then a 265 tire or narrower will fit just fine
