I guess RX-8's are fast?!

Couple of offset questions...

FYI, these are for a stock ride height MT RX8.

Would these offsets work "as is"?
1)18x7.5 +40mm
2)18x7.5 +42mm

yes they would, but why would you want to go with a thinner wheel then reduce the offset by 10mm? Going with a lower offset number is going to push the wheel farther out to the corners. I would at least stick with the stock wheel size (18x8) or go with a wider wheel (18x8.5 or 18x9) if you are going to reduce the offset. I run 18x8 +35mm offset on my summer rims.

i just found these wheels on the web and was interested...also I dont know the specs on the factory wheels so i had no clue.

The stock wheels are 18x8 +50mm offset weighing in around 22.5 lbs.

Do you have any idea what the stock ride height is?
