Could I have a bad strut?

I think my front right strut is dying. When it is cold outside and the car hasn't yet fully warmed up, I hear some serious creaking from the front suspension on the passenger side. Once the car warms up, or it is 60F or more outside or so, the noise is gone. The car doesn't feel different than it used to though, just a creaking noise. I think I also saw some kind of oil wetness on the strut last time I rotated tires.

OEM replacement struts are about $100 each, so not too bad. Is it an easy DIY job?

I have the same noise when cold, don't think anything is wrong. Wouldn't worry about it, just sounds annoying but it goes away quickly.
Mine does it front and back and there is no trace of oil on the struts so I doubt they would be bad.

May need to re-torque your suspension bolts or lube the swaybar mounting brackets. Probably not related to strut condition.

I only hear this squeaking noise when going over a speed bump and only in cold weather. Goes away in a couple of minutes.
I do think it is coming from the struts since it can be heard right when crossing those bumps as the struts compress. But I doubt this would be an indication of them going bad.

Your sway bars, endlinks, and control arms also move when that happens. Without any knowledge of your car or hearing the noise it's more likely one of those joints.

^ yep. depends on if you're all stock or if you changed parts out too but i'd retorque all the bolts and lube the sway bar bushings.
