Choices - Break / Rotor Combo and other questions...
Ok... I have a 2004 RX8 with 49K.
Its time to replace the break pads. I am thinking of getting new rotors, decent breaks and painting the calibers. I am a "fun" driver. I don't get out to any tracks, but do need something that performs to OEM or greater. I am neutral on price.
Now for the questions:
** First off, do your recommend replacing the rotors after 49K? Or just having them turned?
** Next up... If I have the Grand Touring package, I do have the sport suspension correct? I would be pretty frustrated ordering the wrong parts. I am about 90% certain... but want to make sure.
** What Rotor/Break Pad combination do you all recommend (include price/website if possible and how you compare them to OEM)?
---- I see the ones from other threads. It seems like
http://brakeperformance.com/site/sho...google&sort=2a
are a decent buy. Has anyone actually installed/used them yet?
** What is the best thread to follow for painting calibers? What paint would you use? Who has had calibers painted that have stood the test of time?
I am debating on doing the calibers myself of letting someone with the right equipment do it.
Looking for advice!
Thanks in advance...
Tim

New rotors after 49k miles and no track time? No... at least I wouldnt reccomend it. That is as far as cost. Are you still on your original brake pads?
Use brake caliper paint... ermm... just check Tire Rack website, there is a section with paints for that are designed for the temps and environment that they would be exposed to.

Probably right.
Yes, I am on the original breaks.
They still have a little life in them, but I am going to be busy in the upcoming months getting ready to redeploy and wanted to get them done now.
One person (who never looked at the car) said he would definitely have the rotors replaced. I didnt believe him. However, if they did need to be replaced, would you go with OEM? Or something like the ones from BreakPerformance or other?

Just get new pads.
Carbon Kevlar R4-S are good.

You can use these on the street.
