CE28N 10 spoke wheels

I am thinking about getting these for street/track. It is still a daily driver so I'm not commiting my car to anything hard performance yet. But I got a question on these.

Right now I have stock 18 x 8's. I'm looking at getting the CE28N's in 17 x 8.5 or 9. With a low profile tire, will these have any rubbing issues? I'm going smaller diamater than my 18's so I can't imagine they would but it would be a bit wider so I'm just making sure.

I'm also concerned with the offset. I heard a bit ago that 40 is a good offset to go with but I just want to confirm this is ok for competition. I want either a flush with the body style, or sunken in just a hair. I don't want my wheels sticking out at all.

Lastly, will the 17's clear my stock calipers?

As always, thanks for the help.

Severe lack of wheel offset numbers, suspension set up, and tire specs.

i'm running CE28 18x8.5 +30 offset, 255/35/18, and with BBK, without any issue and I track too.
You'll be fine with 17, stock base model are running with 17.
Unless you got BBK, that's another story.

255/35/18 seems beefy for an 8.5 width wheels

Nah, I get good result with it on track.
It's about performance not for show.
Fyi, for 8.5, the max width you can get is 265.

I ran 18x9 +35 Volk RE30's with 265's and they fit fine with no rubbing.

You'd be fine with 17's in that same size.

You forgot to mention that they don't rub in the rear because you had already rolled the rear fender lip flat

I run 18x9 +35 PF01's with a 245/40R18 and I'm lowered 2 inches and I don't rub anywhere, if that helps.

Nope, I rolled the fenders when I got the 18x9 +25 and 265's. Never had to roll with the +35's...

I am running 18x9.5 +15... Had to roll the rear when I lowered it, and it rubs the plastic fender liner, or well it did until it rubbed through a small part of the plastic, no issues.. Oh yea I am on 225 45 18's

When I ran 18x9.5+45 with 265/35-18 Yokohama Advan AD07 tires back in STU from 2006-2007 they just barely cleared the rear fender lip. When Polak used the same wheel/tire setup except +38 offset he rubbed and had to roll the lip flat.

I suppose some tires are wider than others even in the same size designation and the slightly narrower rim will pinch the tire some, but IMO a 9"+35 with 265 tire could be a hit or miss proposition

Weird. I ran my 18x9.5 +45 with 275's all around back in the day and never had the slightest rub on the fenders, that was with 3 different sets of 275's on there. Before the fender roll.
