I really want to run a square setup, specifically due to tire rotation. I only listed the weight as part of the wheel specs, not to imply they were super light weight or anything to that effect. However, they're lighter than stock wheels so it's a + for me.
|
Wheel weight is important but what is often over looked is tire weight. More often than not a 18" tire will weigh quite a bit more than the average 18" wheel unless it's chrome or something.
|
True...that's why I always do my research on tires. Funny you say that cause when I bought my current tires the tire man wanted me to install a wider tire. I told him "thanks but no thanks" the wider tire was almost 3lbs heavier. Hey, every pound of unsprung weight saved counts, right!

Who said it was the only way to go? The weight was listed which implied to me that weight was a factor in this choice of wheel, I was just pointing out that those particular wheels are not that light.
And running staggered generally means different size tires front and rear so that can be a pain when rotating and when buying new tires. Of course he could run the same size tire on all four, I did on my staggered Volks. I just prefer a square setup, if you want to run staggered wheels knock yourself out. BTW, tell Gregs I said wassup ;) I haven't seen him post in a while........ All valid points now that there's more details. Your previous vague comment about staggered wheels and weight would appear that staggered wheels are not the way to go period. We don't want that. :smoker: I'll let him know when I see him which may not be anytime soon, he may not be around for a while. ;) |
Just put my Volks back on and I miss the look!. Tires on stockies were shot and tires on Volks are basically too. That means I get to ride to SS on new rubber! I am just trying to get a good roll/shave of the fenders.

More pics to come. Volk GTS. They are staggered,, I could not pass them up :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/9krpmrx8/8016630605/ |
They look great 9k. I still have mine from my 8. 3 of them need new lips. I talked to wheel flips about repairing them. I think I might just sell them damaged and let someone else repair them with the fitment they want. I put one on my FD. I don't think they look good on it. Maybe some te37 for it.
|
Thanks man, they will really pop when I get the new bumper, sides, and rear on.

What are you planning on putting on? If you don't mind me asking...
I LOVE Volk GTS. By far my favorite wheels. Very good choice. I have an authentic Mazdaspeed front, working on trading for a vertex but not certain on that. If I keep the MS then I'll go with maxdatrix' new side skirts and stock rear flares. |
