Bridgestone Potenza RE050A on sale $132 at tirerack

Stuck in a love triangle
Infinti seems to put the RE050 on all of its cars with 19" rims too. It's a nice price but I believe this tire has a shorter tread life than the RE040s, if that's even possible. Anyone know how it handles compared to the RE040? You'd assume that maybe it would handle better since 5 comes after 4, but who knows anymore.

This kind of answers my question http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/bs_RE050A_rd_c.jsp but I don't really pay attention to tirerack reviews anyway.

If Mazda changed their warranty to 100,000 miles, could that make it all better?? You're doing a lot of complaining lately Roto, you gotta take it easy...

17" wheels and tirerack bureaucracy
O.K., I want 17's for my RX. Summers, probably AD-07's.
I know they fit since my winters are 17's.
I trust the tirerack more than those small yahoo/froogle/ebay stores.
But, after I choose the RX, it only gives me 18-20's to select.
I can select a custom tire size, but for wheels, no go. I guess they don't want too many returns from idiots.
I sent them an e-mail, but no response, and that's really rude.
So if someone from the rack is reading this. GET OFF THE BUREAUCRACY, BTW 17"-8 FOR THE RX-8 EXIST, 5-114, +40mm. In case you didn't know.

what you talking about?
I want 17" summers to lower my unsprung weight.
Am I allowed, or should I bow to Tire Rack?
The 17's were to prove that yes, I should be given the option of a 17", since I didn't have to shave any calipers.
Roto, I've seen your other posts, if you're frustrated at life, just take it out somewhere else, it's a lot more productive that waisting bandwith and people's time.

Meh, I had these tires and I have mixed feelings. They handle very well, which is great. However they wear EXTREMELY fast. 10k miles is all I got out of them. This is probably fine for those of you who have the 8 as a summer toy, however my 8 is my main driver, and I don't track it. I have Kuhmo SPT's right now ($90ish at tire rack), and they are very good. I would say they stick about 85% as well as the Potenzas, and their life is going to be way longer. I also think they handle a bit better in the rain.
My father, who works in marketing for a large pharmaceutical company, says that the easiest way to add perceived value to your product is to give it a high MSRP, and then put it "on sale." People jump to buy the $200 widget for ONLY $130! I would say that if you're not taking your 8 to the track and you don't feel like buying new tires again in a few months, go with The SPT's. You'll save money, and get a great quality set of tires.

Power!!
I have the BFG Gforce T/A KDW's. I'm very happy with them and they have about 15K miles on them and look great! I've had a few different sets of tires from Bridgestone (8 and other cars)and just have not been happy with their wear life and rain traction.
My $0.02
My $0.02

I agree. Something is wrong. There is no way that you could have gone through those tires without some heavy abuse or your alignment is completely off or you just don't know how to judge tire wear.
Fess up!
