Bleeding & Replacing Brake Pads

I'm going to be performing a bleed on the RX-8 to replace the brake fluids with a high temperature grade one, and replacing the pads with Hawk HP+s.

I'm just curious if there anything "out of the ordinary" in dealing with the RX8. I've never even taken a wheel off a car, so I'm a complete n00b at this.

Someone will be helping me with the process, but I'll be on my own mostly, since I want to learn. He asked me to check, just in case something weird comes up.

Purchase one tool, which looks like this (disc brake piston remover):

to turn the rear caliper pistons back to their seated position (as opposed to pressing them back in with a piston compressor tool or C-Clamp, as you would the front brakes).

Read the DIY section.

If you you do not have the mechanical ability as a hands on man. Don't do it.

It's very easy. Honestly, one would have to try hard to mess it up. Brake bleeding and pad swaps are pretty much universal in method. In fact, everything on this site (for an Impreza WRX) is applicable to our cars in terms of procedure for a pad swap:

http://www.weblumen.com/subaru/brakepads.html

key tips:
- Always keep the master cylinder reservoir topped off during the enitre procedure, between bleeds.
- Work from furthest wheel from master cylinder and work your way closer.
- Purchase speed bleeders for fast and easy bleeding.

On another note,
The HP Plus pads selected are a decent street/track day pad. If you're not tracking the RX-8, they're overkill in terms of dust and rotor wear.
