Hi,

I'm planning to put my new wheels on the 8 later today, they're 5-spokes black kazeras with a silver lip.

I'm a little worried that rocks could chip the black surface and create silver scratches on the spokes. I sprayed/buffed two thin layers of Mothers Detailer on the wheels just so the grime and dust wouldn't stick to it but I'm wondering what else I could do.

The obvious solution would probably be to wax the wheels but I'd curious to know if anyone knows of a good product that would be easier to apply. I remember having used some kind of a "silicone spray" a few years back to protect other wheels but can't remember the name.

Any suggestions?

the spokes should be fine with just a lttle wax. there's not really any better way to put it on. even with a spray you'll probably have to wipe the excess off anyways.

i'd be more worried with the lip. is it polished aluminum or chrome?

I was wondering about this myself......just installed new all-black wheels, no bright lip. The only problem I have with waxing is that it's going to make them somewhat shiny. I'd like to keep mine a nice matte black finish. They make satin/matte clear sprays (I saw one by Krylon) that should work pretty well. I'm going with the not-gonna-worry-about-it route....but it's not a bad idea to try to protect them somehow, and there are certainly ways to do it.
